Browning Patent double hump, pump shotgun

Bought this at gun show, BROWNING PATENT 12 GA PROOF TESTED on barrel with a O with 6 inside it with FULL under it, also angled crescent with o in it on left lower side behind mag tube. It has a cowboy on horse back and RANGER on upper left side. Serial number behind trigger guard is 97xxx with the 9 slightly lower than the 7xxx. There are no other markings on gun. Does anyone know what I have and a date of manufacture? THANKS

    Sounds like a Stevens 520 (NOT 520-30).
They were also private labeled for other retailers, or in your case not labeled at all.

Ranger was a name used by Sears or Monkey Wards.
You can never go home again.

RANGER was Sears brand. Probably a 1920s production. I love the design and have two later single hump guns, one of which is in process of becoming Stevens 520-30 trench gun copy.

Are parts available for these guns? Pawnshop has a "gunsmith special" Ranger in good external condition with unspecified broken parts for cheap.
