Late WW2 M12 trench heatshield question

I have a late (#1,018,xxx) parked numbers matching Winchester 12 trench gun.
The stock is GHD marked but the heat shield is 6 row versus 4.
Any record of late m12s' using early heat shields (perhaps as a rebuild)?
    Thanks

All of the original factory parkerized finish M12 trench guns are in the 1,03x,xxx. But many of the small parts on them are blued. The bayonet adaptors on the original factory parkerized guns are W marked. And the 6 row heat shield had been phased out by the time the Model 12 was made for the Military. It sounds like your trench gun has been refinished.

It was re-done OR someone found a gun and found a shield and married them. It probably did not leave the factory that way.
