riot gun info

I just bought a Winchester model 12 riot gun with U.S. marking followed by the flaming bomb on the block. The barrel is also marked with the flaming bomb. Serial number is#970661. Finish is excellent probably 95%. The stock is almost perfect. What year is this gun? I paid $400 for it. did I get taken? Thanks in advance, Bill H,

Tom, thanks for the quick reply. The answer to your question is no. The stock does not seem to have been sanded and refinished. I assume that it has been replaced. regards, Bill

With a replaced buttstock ( or a refinished one ) and a nice blue job , one can't help but fear that it's been redone .
That being said , even if so , you did well .
I would pay that for a shooter I could have fun with , along with my $1100 restored / refinished '97 trench , my $410 china '97 trench , and my $475 put together ( but original finished ) 520-30 trench .
