hi, does this model 12 trench gun legit?

It may have been converted post-war by the military , but I'd vote civilian.
No , it did not leave the factory that way.

thanks for the reply. do you think it is worth $1290 as is? I am guessing it is a riot gun if not a true trench gun.

Riot guns were cyl. bored also . It was a long barrel rec. or trainer . Finish does not match , so it's prob'ly a put together . If it has original USGI parts through out , it may be worth that if you need parts or a shield assmly . Without better pics. , though , you can't tell. A repro handguard would make it worth maybe half that .
