Model 12 Trench Gun Conversion ?'s

I'm trying to determine if it's cost effective in the long run to convert a Model 12 to trench gun configuration. I have the basic idea of what is needed. My biggest concern is installing a barrel vs cutting one. Does anyone make a reproduction magazine tube cap? Should I just search for a riot gun to start with. Any input and advice is much appreciated.

12n GA 001.jpgThere are so many out there that have been done. I picked one up a few years ago for 500.00. Suits me just fine.
