    Parked winchester 12 trench

    Serial number looks late enough.
    Refinished?

    1947?

      No, it is not 1947.
The finish looks right, many of those late guns were never issued.
However, maybe it is just the picture, but there sure is something funky about the rear of the bayonet lug.

Once again, Uncle Sam did not order trench guns after 1944. And CERTAINLY not in 1947.

Bayonet lug screws are also parkerized. Original examples I've seen were blued. Finish looks dark rather than greenish.

I agree...number is right range, but it definitely looks refinished. The pictures are presented in such a way as to just give you enough to think it is the real deal without answering the question for sure. The telltale "thumbprint" appears to be enhanced for the purpose of the auction, but hard to tell. Not enough info for me to bid with confidence on this one....

Something wrong with the lug where it attaches to the mag tube.

Im not seeing the issue with the lug?

Doesn't look like there are blued parts e.g. slide bar, trigger, screws, etc.

Look at the back where it hits the mag tube. It looks like part of it has been ground away or something.

I've repeatedly asked about three grooves under the bayonet lug attachment and if there were any blued parts e.g. Slide bar, trigger, screws. Here is the response:

"Can not tell about the blued parts but gun is parked. I am not going to take gun apart to check
for grooves under the barrel. There is NO inspection period or return policy. Thanks (B52H)"

Looks nice but something isn't adding up and seller is unresponsive.

The seller sent me some additional photos. I also have this gun in my database and other photos from when it was sold some time ago. From what I can see from the photos, none of the small parts appear to be blued, particularly the bayonet adaptor screws. They almost look like they are in the white. I also don't believe they are the correct type screws. And the bayonet adaptor is not W marked as it should be.

This would immediately throw up a huge red flag...
