Stevens Model 77F cartridge stop question, please..

    Happy Independence Day!
I just acquired a Stevens M77F .410 bore shotgun. It is in beautiful shape. The problem/symptom is that cartridges, when inserted in the magazine tube, are not held in place (in the mag tube); they just slide back outward. It appears the Cartridge Stop (I believe that's the correct part ID) is bent. Maybe bent upward? I don't have another M77 to compare/contrast. Please see my pics and advise. I don't want to bend it incorrectly and break it. Thanks for looking.
    Forearm full forward:

    Forearm full rearward:

Cartridge push not held in mag tube - forearm full forward

Ideally if some could post similar pix---WAY big help- and Thank you. Geoff in DE (email: glindes@Verizon.net)

you might try posting this on the small arms page too... as it isn't really a military shotgun . I wonder if any of the shotgun gurus and gunsmiths that hang out there ever come over to this board.........you'll have a better chance of it being answered there or heck if it's on both this board & the other.... hope this helps you out. From what I could see the end looked okay to me... if it is being activated enough when the slide is racked......good luck hand. Nice quality pix too.

Message Emri, he hangs out on the 03 board. He has been a professional gunsmith since 1983 or so and has seen it all.
