    NRA Board of Directors Election

If you are an NRA Life Member or an annual member for 5 consecutive years you should have your ballot in the February issue of American Rifleman by now.

If you are a competitive shooter please vote for these individuals:

    R Lee Ermey
    Allen D Coors
    Patricia A Clark
    Howard J Walter
    Ted W Carter

All five are active competitive shooters in one or more discipline. They are the sort of people we need to represent us on the NRA Board.

Because of the way the NRA voting is jiggered the more people you vote for the less impact your votes have. Vote for one person and he gets one vote. Vote for five people and they each get 1/5th of a vote. Vote for 25 and they each get 1/25th of a vote.

Therefore, it's best if you limit your votes. Politicians, celebrities, and other names will get votes simply from name recognition (in this case R Lee Ermey is a two-fer).

If you're concerned with how competitive shooting is managed by NRA (and you should be) voting for these five folks is part of the solution.

It's just a good old boys/rich mans club. They have little or no influence over the operations of the NRA. King Wayne would never allow anyone or thing to get in his way.

            Yes and No.

When it comes to Big NRA, politics, lobbying, and all that other inside-the-beltway crap you're probably not far wrong.

            This isn't about that.

It's about getting competitive shooters on the BoD so they're in a position to do something when things that matter to competitive shooters are brought before the board or when a situation comes up where a board member can influence or apply pressure to get staff members to do the right thing.

Nearly all of what I'm referring to would be small potatoes to the movers-and-shakers (most of whom probably don't even know there is a competitions department) but they matter to those of us who compete.

I personally know all five - good folks. They care about competitive shooting.

Old thread, but it's that time again. Any suggestions for competitive shooters running this year?
