    Old Winchester sight

I picked up an old 1905 Ross rifle sporter today, and soldered to thr barrel, in great condition, is a sight that reads along the top..."Manufactured by the Winchester Rep. arms co. New Haven Conn. USA Pat.Oct 8, 1901", and on the side...."Smokeless 50 & 100 yds. -32 WS M94.
Any info on this sight ?? Any value in selling it ?
    Thanks

in my limited opinion, when they soldered it on, they ruined a fine old sight & probably ruined the barrel of a fine old rifle too.

After a closer look, the sight was in a dovetail, and there was only a spot of solder, probably used to keep the sight stable. I was able to slide the sight off easily with a light tap. Now I have an unknown sight, and a Ross rifle with no rear sight, only a dovetail in the barrel. The barrel has strong rifiling, and would have a nice shine when cleaned.

The sight was made especially for the Model 1894 Winchester rifle in .32 Winchester Special caliber. I have never seen any information on what prompted Winchester to design a sight for one model of rifle in one caliber.

I haven't seen one of the sights in a while, but depending on condition I would guess somewhere in the $100/150 range. It may be hard to find someone that needs one though.
