I've got an old Colt Detective Special, made in about 1938 I think. I enjoy shooting it, and I've slipped it into a pocket a couple of times when I thought that having something like that handy would be a "good idea." It works great except for the timing on one of the cylinders. All the others line up and lock up just fine. How expensive would it be to have that timing fixed by a competent gunsmith?

Used parts can be found. But, it may be that finding a gunsmith who knows anything at all about older Colts is going to be a problem. Sincerely. bruce." Unlike most conservatives, libs have no problem exploiting dead children and dancing on their graves." -
Don't believe Colt will work on it any more. They lost all their people that could work on one of their revolvers that times on the hand.
If it will time correctly on five chambers it doesn't sound like the normal timing problem with a worn hand. Check the ratchet on the back of the chamber that is not timing when trigger is pulled.Comment

Go to www.coltfever.com and click in gunsmithing. There are smiths who still work on Colt revolvers.Comment
