Does the holster have the GI wire hooks to attach it to the belt? The holster looks British. Can you see any makers stamps on it.

I believe that holster is for the Colt Commando or S&W Victory Model revolvers.

It has the brass wire that attaches to the web belt. I have looked it over thouroghly and can't find a date or logo anywhere. That kind of surprised me. The only revolver I have that I thought might fit is my Colt Officers Model, but its too big. The belt is dated 194X(they put a rivet on top of the last digit. I figure it takes a WWII type pistol. I have a buddy that probably has a Victory model. Thanks.

Its for a revolver sure. Belt may not be original to dated belt.

Holster probably is not original to the belt. I got a bunch of loose stuff in a box with this. It was just a guys old gun stuff. He no doubt put the holster on the web belt for his personal use.

It's a WWII US issued holster for the S&W Victory Model revolver. They were not marked by the manufacturer. They used to be fairly common at gun shows, but I haven't seen many in recent years.

                Victory Holster

John is right, it is the standard holster for the S and W Victory 4 inch .38 special. These were not marked and they show up quite often on the auction sites and go for in the 40 - 50 dollar range. See page 296 in "U.S. Handguns of WWII", by Charles W. Pate.
