          From what I have found out most of those went to I believe the Massachuset's National Guard in the late 30s.If Colt wasn't so expensive anymore I'd get it lettered to see where it originally went.

            Beautiful piece!! Is the fifth shot a double at eight o'clock? Also, the "2" in ".32" looks to be a
            "cut and paste" on the end flap. Nothing like a pre-war Colt!! George in NH

                Indeed it is,Colt never threw anything away back then.I've seen the same on a few other boxes where calibers or barrel length were done that way.They made so few .32 Targets I wonder if a good percentage of the boxes were .38 boxes remarked?

                  On a pistol of that condition in the original box, the $75 price of the letter is well worth it.

                    The target looks like the Colt target that would have been shipped with the pistol. along with the box that would make it an exceptionally cool find.

                      It was in the box when I bought the pistol 20 odd years ago.
