    Value of S&W Model 48-4

Anyone know a value of this pistol? Exellent condition with slight 'ring' around cylinder and slight holster wear at muzzle. Has custom coco-bolo grips as well as factory grips.

It depends if it's a pre 1986 ( K22 Masterpiece ) or a later one. Does it have adjustable rear sight and what is the barrel length? The custom grips add very little to the value. If it's a pre 1986 then one in 90% condition is $300 and 95% is $350. If it's one of the newer ones made from 2010 onward then it quite a bit more in value by about $100.

I don't know if it's pre 1986, has 4 inch barrel and adjustable rear sight. Serial #86K5781

86K would make the manufacture date around 1980. 1980 57K0001-91K6800

Guns must be cheaper in some parts of the country. Here in GA a model 48 brings bigger dollars. A couple years ago I picked up a 48-4 just a little older than yours for $650 and was proud to get it. The longer barrels bring a bit more, but this model is hard to find.

Not cheaper, just the prices from the Blue Book which is the book dealers use to buy and sell.

Yeah, Dave, I saw one on Gunbroker starting at $1000 plus. I knew that was an exacturated price.
