Just remember it is the NOW crowd that got this done... Remember all those protests and kneelings they led in Mecca? Remember the equal rights feminist's, led by Betty Friedhan, Gloria Allred, Gloria Steinem, Oprah Winfrey, etc. leading demonstrations in the Saudi capital, Riyadh?

Somehow I can't remember that happening, but, those are the ones that are going to claim credit for this milestone.

Personally I think the Saudi men finally realized they would get more and better nookie if they let one of their wives drive them back to the harem.

i would venture to say it falls under better something than nothing, or its a start. or looking at it from a gvmnt point of view, they will make more money on licenses, taxes on cars, and gas, etc. who knows.

So why is this a big deal?

Genital mutilation of women is African, not Arab or Muslim (although some Muslims practice it) and it is done by or at the insistence of the women. And, of course genital mutilation of men is common throughout the world.
