This an outstanding series that was shown many years ago on TV. I am now watching it again on Youtube. if you want to watch first class adventure you will love this. Sam Niell is outstanding in the lead role and the sets, plots and direction are all excellent.

One of the best historical dramas ever shown on PBS--I watched the entire series twice, maybe three times, when it went into re-runs, and would gladly watch it again if PBS brought it back. Not willing to watch anything longer than half an hour on a computer screen, however. But all these old PBS series have been reissued on DVD, and most can be bought cheap on ebay or Amazon.

Hi, I have the book "Ace of Spies" by Bruce Lockhart. Some of the things in the series are different or not in the book. I think somethings were added or change for dramatic effect. I agree a great series, regards, Mike

Main thing I took away was how much more complicated than I had imagined the Russian revolution was--the different Communist factions fighting & killing each other after the gov't had been overthrown.
