    Detroit Firefighter Fired For Bringing...

"racially insensitive watermelon" to work. What the hell is happening to our country when this sort of crap is allowed?

I suppose bananas and fried chicken would also be considered racially insensitve. What a load of steaming crapola..........

Just as bad if your co-worker is a "fruit".

Well evidently it's written in The Constitution that you have a RIGHT "not to be offended".

            I was thinking the same.

They actually did him a favor. Considering sometimes you might put your life on the line and need support from your co-workers in this line of work he is better off working somewhere else. There will be back stabbers everywhere but hopefully not this bad in his next job.

So I guess that means any store, fruit stand that sells or farm that grows said fruit is a racist. We can no longer have watermelon.

I too was thinking the same thing, but in the opposite direction. If the firehouse doesn't think the new guy will have their backs, then better to cut him loose in the probationary period. It's on the new guy to fit in to the established routine of an up-and-running operation. At least, that's what every black guy ever has been told when he joins a white operation.

Not trying to be snide but how did you come upon this tidbit of information?

this happened on day ONE!! personally, ive worked with quite a few black people, and have never not once, ever heard anyone tell them it is up to them to fit in to a white organization. usually quite the opposite happens!

Take race out of the picture for a sec and yeah, sure, let's use the probationary period to see if the new guy fits in. Now add race into the picture and everything gets all jumbled up. Does the majority accommodate the minority? Other way around? No easy way to get a straight answer. What the Breitbart article doesn't give us is a sense of whether or not the guy with the melon was being a deliberate jerk or not.
