Church Where George Washington Prayed Will...

...take down a plaque honoring him. They claim that it "makes some people feel unsafe or unwelcome." Can your guess who these people are? Please read the whole article. It is brief and will make you sick.

This is getting disgusting. When will everyone else say, "ENOUGH!"?

On the other hand...if they wipe out all remaining reminders of slavery, nobody will owe them anything. We can say "PROVE IT!"

Trump's prediction come true. Hardly surprising in the "church of what's happening now." The first to welcome fags & lesbos into their clergy.

"ENOUGH" that very question has been asked in a lot of minds . The change in mind sets certainly need changing but I don't know that it will happen as the world around us certainly appears to be gone off it's rocker .

I read that piece and was just speechless. This PC crap has GOT to stop. If I were the other members of that congregation, I would perform whatever level of civil disobedience was required to physically prevent the removal of the plaque, immediately stop ALL financial support, etc., until some sanity is restored.

You wouldn't BE an Episcopalian if you weren't a born left-winger.

It is about fear nothing else. Pretty soon someone will complain about feeling guilty so the sermon will be "sanitized" to suit "their need" and so on. When Ohio started CCW my then Pastor put a notice on the door no CCW as HE didn't want any crazies with guns IN HIS CHURCH! The congregation nor Deacon's had or dared to vote on this. This was the faith that I was born into, the Church back home that my Grandfather helped start. Grandad's plaque honoring him is in the first window in the sanctuary. We are now Southern Baptist where even the little old ladies carry a .38 in their purse. Fear of something is everywhere and offending someone is to be avoided. One of the counselors, a REAL LEFT LEANER asked me why I carried a gun was I paranoid of being harmed as the police will protect me. I told her I carried a .45 with 4 extra mags, what did I have to fear? When bad things happed, cops are hours away.

You WERE an Episcopalian...just like 50 yrs ago, most whites in the South were yaller-dog Democrats. Only fools cling blindly to institutions which have been taken over & corrupted by radicals. The homo-ridden American Episcopal church is now an embarrassment to the world-wide Anglican communion: http://www.christianitytoday.com/new...-marriage.html

Same needs to be done at the churches that MLK, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson attended if they even merited a plaque in the first place.

Many, if not most, churches of this ilk are represented by the minister's hand picked toadies that form the board. A fool minister makes the whole congregation look foolish, until they decide the minister needs to "move on". Regards, Clark

At first glance ... didn't like the decision. On second thought, still don't like it. However, that being said, I have been a pastor for 37 years. I have served a number of churches. Subsequent pastors have at times changed things I did. AND, I have at times changed things previous pastors did. This is no different. The pastor and members of the church have every right to do exactly as they see fit with regard to their buildings, furnishings, etc. The only people who have any standing to the matter are those who are the members and those who are the authorized leaders. Everyone else is just a spectator. It beggars the imagination to think that a church is to predicate it's work on what someone thinks about politics, history, etc. when that person is not a member of that church. A church were I served had it's front doors removed and laid across the pews for surgical tables during the War Between the States. The visitors rode their horses through the sanctuary and stabled them in some of the back rooms. The hoof prints are still visible in various places. In renovating that facility, I would not want to do anything that would obscure or remove these marks as I consider them important. Others might not agree with me. If they were members of my church and if I were the pastor, I'd listen to them. They would have a right to be heard as they would be members of that church and I would be the pastor. Otherwise, I'd just write their opinions off ... same as with any other non-member who presumes to try to tell me or my church how we are to handle our ministry or our facilities. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce.
