My daughter met someone who babysat the Obama girls in the early 2000's, and later had a law class taught by Barack. They said that Barack was a pretty chill guy, that sometimes returned papers smelled like cigarettes, so maybe he graded them at the bar (no smoking in the house). Michelle was no-nonsense type who made sure their daughters took care of business, which sounds a lot like the sort of parent people around here say we need more of. Parenting can be a crap shoot but maybe we can give credit where credit is due once in awhile.

Go back and read her comments. Michelle is essentially taking the "anti-punk" position. That is, don't coddle them as kids so they grow up to be young punks, then later old ones. Fox, which has had a few problems of its own with young punks that grew up to be old ones, cynically portrays her remarks as somehow being against powerful men. It's a self-reflective message on her part, not inconsistent with the story I told passed down through a former babysitter. Possibly it's hard to see for "cultural" reasons, but on this issue you and her are on the same page, unless you are "pro-punk".

Long before Barrack O was in the national spotlight he was a nobody State Legislator. His wife was the dragon lady riding his coat tails to fame. Barging through crowds, cutting into the front of movie lines, parking wherever she damned well pleased....always way above the peons on the street. Her infamous line was "Do you KNOW who I am??? DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM????" as she kept right on going.
Most people didn't know her at all. After asking around the best answer was "Somebody's wife down in Springfield".

When it comes to self-importance, power grabbing and conceit, her and Hillary take the same drugs.
