Leftyo I guess it's up to you to decide how deep into the subject you want to dive, and for what purpose. My read is that your mind is largely decided, but perhaps I am mistaken.

As for temperature, it is understood to be a lagging indicator, at least initially, of climate change. Below is a post on CO2 measurements (a leading indicator) from an old blog. The comments are almost as interesting as the initial post, and much more civil than what one observes here.

CO2 levels are measured by hundreds of stations scattered across 66 countries which all report the same rising trend.

JB: ozone depletion was a result of aerosol propellants and refrigerants reacting in the upper atmosphere. In 1987 a treaty was signed and their use phased out in favor of substitutes without the same effects. Over the decades we are seeing the fruits of that effort. Alas CO2 as a combustion by-product has no easy substitute.

I've read that closing the ozone holes over the poles will contribute to global warming. Oh what a wicked web we weave....

          Where's the numbers?

          Specifically:

          1. What will it cost to implement the Paris Accords?
          2. What effect will that have on global temperatures?

Give us a prediction for, say 2020, 2030, and 2040 so we can see what we're buying and what it will cost us.

If you tell the deniers at 8:00 p.m. that the sun will come up in the morning, it's: - I don't see it, are you sure, I still don't see it, it's still dark, I think it's getting darker, I don't see it,it wasn't this dark at 8:00 last night.-
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.

Vern that's one way of looking at it. Another way is to consider the cost of ignoring the issue altogether.

The question is ultimately whether someone wants to engage constructively on the issue or not. Either way there are plenty of opportunities available. As for the scientists, they have objectively made their case that something big is going on. James Hanson may very well lose sleep at night, but it's not because he has been proven wrong.

                  JB,

Your post made me go look up axis shifts. Found this.

Interesting reading, thank you for bringing it up.

                    Togor,

Thanks for sharing the link. The theories to cause/effect seem to have changed a little since I was first made aware of it in '72, but the factual results and predictions remain close to the same. Naturally with ongoing studies, correlations, and advancements in technology, that's to be expected.

But in reality how much of the "warnings" issued in 1972 are here now? In the 35 years that my bride and I have been married we are using more wood and less electricity. This past year was the first time that we did not use a/c in our bedroom, just an oscillating fan. Have already lit the propane wall unit and started to burn wood. Have 4 cords, going to get more ordered in...just in case. Have three #20 bottles for the Lair, the first one seems to go on forever! @ $13.45 [tax included]for a refill is not too bad. It takes about 30 minutes with the Big Buddy on high to bring the temp up from 38 to 60, with the outside temp at 30.

As I said, my area is experiencing a slight temperate climate change and seasonal shift. Along with more flash flooding due to fluctuations in water levels. It's what one of my instructors told us we might expect along our area of latitude. The Earth isn't rotating on a constant steady yaw. He likened it to a spinning top as it's rotation just barely begins to decay. A little dip. Then as it rights itself, a little dip again.
Unlike a top, the world isn't about to topple over and roll out of its solar orbit.

Geeze! Don't say that! The Green Weenies will be demanding trillions of dollars to prevent the earth rolling out of orbit.

We have to fix it at any cost. Maybe we can get 25 million Chinese to all move a little to the left.

Climate change is real, this planet was all ice many years ago and not its not because of poplation.
