Simple really. People on welfare for generations should be banned from voting. They have never given anything to society except crime and huge budgets to cover their freebies. Then political wannabies wouldn't have to think about losing those votes. Welfare could then be streamlined.

Everyone has a right to vote. But people on welfare should be required to take random drug tests -- after all, the people who EARNED the money they depend on had to take random drug tests.Comment

Re: Drug tests. Would agree ... if applied to every single person voting in an election. Why? Not hard to figure out. There are many drug abusers who vote. There is no good reason for the election process to be impacted by people on dope. If they test positive, let them cast a provisional ballot. If the test turns out to be a false positive, fine, count their ballot. Otherwise, arrest them. What could be simpler? Sincerely. bruce." Welfare should be temporary and for citizens only. The people who receive it usually don't pay a dime into it and can get free money for all their lives and sometimes generations. While I agree with the drug testing, people on welfare should not be on it long enough for it to matter.
Unemployment compensation is something you only receive if you and/or your employer pays into it and is only for a short duration.
The democrats have nothing to gain by compensation of the unemployed/previously employed people. You will find very few who have made welfare their career choice that aren't democrats however. Time to end it or at least severely restrict it to those who have a dire need. Good way to cut the national debt and democrat voters. A win win situation (for us).Last edited by Allen; 11-08-2017, 08:39.Comment

I agree with Allen. The Johnson administration sold us Welfare as a hand-up, not a handout. There should be some exclusions from temp status but only for those who qualify with proper history and real documentation.Welfare should be temporary and for citizens only.2016 Chicago Cubs. MLB Champions!

Yes--but not for drugs, for the legitimacy of their "total & permanent" disability. With countless ambulance-chasing lawyers running TV ads announcing that certifying disability claims is their ONLY business (and telling prospective clients, "you deserve it!"), you know it's an out of control scam. When even such a leftist news org as NPR reports "skyrocketing claims," you also know it's no right-wing hoax.

Unfortunately, being drunk or on drugs does not disqualify a person from voting.Re: Drug tests. Would agree ... if applied to every single person voting in an election. Why? Not hard to figure out. That was a well research and factual link. It didn't make my blood pressure go up. I get it. What I don't understand(or is clear to me) is why Washington state hires a firm to basically move people off of welfare to disability. There is a good reason for that, for Washington I'm sure. It's not out of the goodness of their hearts, hippie leftist leanings not withstanding. There's no gov. handout that can't be scammed and the scamming/gaming is very high tech these days. Going on welfare or disability is the only way out for a lot of losers. It's the only way out for a lot of good people who aren't computer programmers or "website builders". There's not enough work for hard working folks. Then on the flip side(to be fair) work sucks. Standing at a(what used to be called a cash register)all day is murder on your back. If a t.v. lawyer tells you, I'll get you the money you deserve it easy to take the bait.Yes--but not for drugs, for the legitimacy of their "total & permanent" disability. Maybe because disability, once "proven" by a shyster and his hired quacks, is permanent, whereas welfare eligibility must be recertified annually, with all the red tape & paper work that entails.
Don't dispute that most works sucks, but who's going to be left standing behind the cash register if everybody makes a phony disability claim?Comment

Makes sense, but still where's the point? How does that help WA. Well, someone is making money off it or it wouldn't be happening.
-That's just it, there aren't even any cash register jobs. If there are, it's part time with no benefits. Kind of like the Titanic; you can be moral, strong and brave or you wrap a shawl around your head and get in a life boat. If it's dire and the life boats are available people are going to get in.If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.Comment

Maybe where you live, but around here in upstate NY every grocery store has a permanent "help wanted" sign, and the pay & benefits can't be too bad because in recent yrs more & more men are taking these jobs--which I don't like, because they're never as quick & efficient as the 20-something girls. Recently one of the two stores in the nearest town put in one of those self-service check-out machines because they said they just couldn't hire enough human checkers!Comment
