Good luck with that. I'm still stuck with the one I bought from Boise to Bangkok.

So who is nuttier? The nuts who study climate science and objectively observe measurable changes in our environment, or the nuts who study Revelations and predict a biblical End of the World? Discuss.

No thanks. You've already preloaded a slant on it.

Slanted surfaces common in nature, JB. But you're a flatlander so I get it.

God created our world, He will surely end it! I feel sorry for the non-believers who are so full of self because, "I believe in science and it is never wrong!" It must really hurt to be so alone, all the time trying unsuccessful to fill that empty void. If there is no God and I believe what is the problem? If there is a God and I don't believe I now have a problem.

I feel sorry for the believers who are so ignorant that they believe hocus-pocus is right. Not slamming religion. It's nice. People need to believe in something, and not just science, but religion needs to be believed in with eyes open. I have my go-to God, but it's not the "prime time" God.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.

Well no question religion is in decline as a social force while science marches on. The reason is simple enough...science is about finding objective answers in the natural world to observed natural phenomena. Theories must be objectively testable and science discards those theories which do not pass the test or are superseded by new ideas. Religion by contrast is based on knowledge given from a supernatural source, which is explicitly not subject to testing and which by definition must be taken on faith. Tethered to millennia-old texts with no established mechanism for obsolescence of ideas, Scriptural Literalists find for themselves a tougher road with each passing year.

No doubt you credit your own faith for curing your cancer, but what is also true is that the medicines which treated your disease and the machines that find your body free of it were developed scientifically, and the particular belief systems of patients was not a factor in their development.

I know a great many atheists who live full, rich lives, who do not need the prospect of a second life to give this one meaning. I also know scientists who can express far greater wonder at the mysteries of the universe than religious people who are unable to grasp anything deeper than a superficial reading of Genesis. But probably we should avoid making it a contest.

Obviously you have never looked into someone's eyes as they die...I have. If all life is then life is pretty empty, I KNOW there is a hereafter so why worry? A full life, of what? I have seen too many people with a full life trying to fill it and never do! The inner peace, the fulfillment is a constant search for "self" and ????? The miracles around us and people too blind to see, looking for self worth and grouping about in their dark. I saw the light years ago when I became a believer in God. He who is so blind and refuses to see...I feel so sorry for those who can't.
