Philadelphia To Ban Bullet Proof Glass In Stores

This was discussed on a local radio station this morning. The reason given by City Council is that bulletproof glass "offends the feelings of low income shoppers." The new law is backed by the Mayor and would require storekeepers to remove the glass.

Here is what else was discussed on the show by a Chinese man who owns a store in a black neighborhood. He said that most of the owners of these small stores and little restaurants are Asians. He said the store keepers were only doing this to protect themselves from the high crime rates in these neighborhoods. But the mayor and City Council don't care a damn about their safety.

I predict many of these storeowners/small businessmen will apply for their CCW licenses, and I am pretty sure under Pennsylvania law the City cannot prevent them. There will be a lot of shootings, the usual hullaballoo.
Are low income shoppers offended by the high prices of upscale store and restaurants ? Dress codes ? Standards of decorum and conduct ?

Since Philadelphia has come under the control of the NAACP, the citizens are subjected to crime every day, in every venue. Regards, Clark

Apparently high prices don't offend them if they intend to shoot out the glass and loot in the first place.

The big cities have really become hell holes.

Stupid decision. But, the mayor and city council are elected by the voters. Stands to reason they must obey the will of the people who put them in office.

That being said, got to wonder what good BP glass would do in the front window of a store. IF there is a robbery, the criminal will be inside the store, not outside. Are the expecting a return to the days of Capone ... gangsters driving by in armored up cars hosing a store down with Chicago typewriters? Sincerely. bruce.

That acrylic inch thick stuff resists rocks better when the "protesters" decide to throw a temper tantrum. We have it in some of the banks in our "ethnic" neighboorhoods. That's a good idea too. The bank robbers might be offended. That's tough(get it).
