Classic Song "Jingle Bells" Rooted In Racism Says Professor

Still more of this crap. It never seems to end.

“Jingle Bells” doesn’t have a single reference to Santa Claus or Jesus Christ, but the song, one of the most well-known Christmas carols in the world, is now under fire for its “problematic history.”

Sid, it’s a fool just looking for his 15 minutes of fame. Dumber the remark the better the chance of showing up on the alphabets stations at six. As my favorite Ebenezer Scrooge would say, let him die and decrease the surplus population.

If this keeps up we won't be able to sing, "Deck your balls with bowels of Holly....Ted is wearing gay apparel, all dressed up he looks like Carol..."

            Then let's ban it.
That will save me throwing things at the radio.

I'm hoping that prof will add White Christmas to the racist list, so that maybe it will be banned from being played in stores.

Songs sung by Rodents I really do not like.

That could be a great song per Dr. Suess.

Her only claim is that it was rooted in "blackface" theater in 1857. She went on to state that she never claimed it to be racist, and should NOT be considered racist. So what is the problem here ? She researched the song's origin, and found it !!!!!!

Wild speculation isn't "research." Twisting facts to fit a pre-determined conclusion isn't research. But absurdities such as this is what it takes to get noticed in Academia; best of all, she has absolutely no fear of exposure or ridicule by her peers, because never does a charge of racism have to be logically demonstrated, only asserted. Anyone who might have the courage to disagree is automatically dismissed as a racist.

Perhaps the correct response is to play it more often, along with White Christmas (a song that just by its title is surely racist)

I did not read that she speculated, only that she had evidence of what she found. I really could care less, only trying to point out facts....which seem to get lost in the uproar.
