"The first gun that was fired at Fort Sumter sounded the death-knell of slavery. They who fired it were the greatest practical abolitionists this nation has produced." ~BG D. Ullman -
He had no need to "prove" his citizenship. He is a citizen by the fact his mother is a citizen. It matter's not where he was born. That "natural born citizen" thing was changed in the 1790's when it was realized that ambassador's children, born overseas, would be ineligible to be Pres. One of our very early Pres. was born in France or England. Think it was Sam Adams son.You can never go home again.Comment

Tog...I'm going to reply in part only. Why stop the clock on his qualifications before his first day on the job? He held the office for eight years. People talk about Trump or Bush growing into the job but Obama can't? Disliking Obama does not make someone a racist. Claiming however that in eight years on the job he was wholly unqualified and didn't do one single thing of consequence correctly does point to some kind of extreme visceral bias against the guy. I start at race because it is the most obvious trigger. Graphics like Allen's use the coded language of the past. By coincidence?
Did Obama do nothing but paint the X-ring in his years in office? Of course not. But did he draw Maggie's Drawers every single time as this board wants to insist? I say no. The world doesn't work that way.
Obama was never qualified to be POTUS in the first place. The community he supposedly organized. Have you ever seen it? He resigned minutes before being disbarred in Illinois due to his unethical dealings with organizations like the Black Panthers, and the Gangster Disciples, the El-Rukins.... He was always a pandering POS with a gilded tongue. He rode Bobby Rush's coat tails into the Illinois Legislature where he served as a tool. Useless to the People in general. The Chicago Machine then catapulted him into the US Senate. On the night of his Senate victory "they" (Machine and media) launched his run for the office of POTUS. He was a worthless POS on the Hill never focused on his job. Never voting either way on anything the same as he did in Springfield. If he was in attendance he would only vote "present". Abstaining on bills that he co-signed or co-authored in the first place.
The DNC recognized his "usefulness as a speaker" (That gilded tongue again) and sold half the country into accepting a box of perfumed turds in a Christmas wrapper.
That is the real legacy of #44 and it will never improve with the passing of time.
He was NEVER qualified and he said so in his own words just four months before tossing his hat in the ring. Why stop the clock on his qualifications before his first day on the job?
. That box of perfumed turds again. Most people simply can't admit to being had.He held the office for eight years
Obama couldn't. You can add all the BS/fertilizer you want but a tool cannot grow into anything but rusted uselessness.People talk about Trump or Bush growing into the job but Obama can't?
That is my honest whole-hearted opinion of the man.
*added* I asked you earlier what you meant by "OBL". Did you miss that amidst the other postings?Last edited by JB White; 12-31-2017, 06:17.2016 Chicago Cubs. MLB Champions!

Again, JB, not going to try to get you to like Obama. But disliking him and saying he never did anything good ever on the job are two different things. I'm assuming even you, who saw him up close in his formative years, aren't prepared to go that far. Tell me otherwise if I'm off base. (FWIW, Roy Moore in his campaigns for judge polled lower in his home county than he did elsewhere in the state. And of course Trump got killed in NYC election returns. So familiarity can breed contempt, as they say.)
As for code, in the graphic, here is a very interesting link, well worth the time. Northerners like you and me never saw this in action. We can read about it, but we never lived it. Allen is from Dixie however, is much more familiar with the culture that ran things this way. "Credentials" goes directly back to this pre-Voting Rights Act past. If he wasn't blocking my posts I have no doubt he would be deeply annoyed with me that I draw the connection out loud. It's not supposed to be done that way.

Togor, I probably share the same sentiments as you historically. However you cannot keep dwelling on things that changed over half a century ago and keep applying them to present day debates. It's not going to get you anywhere and even you are smart enough to know that.
Thanks for the link BTW. Some interesting reading there...for historical purposes.

But JB.....isn't Make America Great Again a slogan about doing exactly that? I get what you're saying, and I share the sentiment to some degree, but my sense is that there are always people trying to forget the lessons of the past. There's even that pithy saying about what happens when people do that.Togor, I probably share the same sentiments as you historically. Make America Great Again and connecting it directly to a past transgression is twisting things out of context a bit. I for one didn't experience any Jim Crow testing in the North as you pointed out, but going through a registration process and showing your voter registration card after processing is something I believe in.
Wrangling kids off street corners on election night to help them fill out a form prior to handing them a ballot is WRONG.2016 Chicago Cubs. MLB Champions!

I have a relative who has a degree in psychology. She once worked as an administrator for a large mental retardation organization. She wasn't there in 2008 but in 2012 all the patients over age 18 were given ballots and shown where to check by known liberals. They were all for obama of course.Last edited by Allen; 12-31-2017, 07:36.Comment

The genius of MAGA as a slogan (and it is exactly that, genius) is that it allows the listener to paint whatever nostalgic picture they so choose about a better past. To northerners such as you and Clintonhater and me, that might mean better wages and more hours in decent paying jobs that ask something of a man in exchange for giving him something.Make America Great Again and connecting it directly to a past transgression is twisting things out of context a bit. In other parts of the country, it can mean something else. Take this Roy Moore quote from the campaign, when asked by a black person to describe a time in his opinion when America was great.
So to Moore MAGA carries a different message than it does to you or CH or me. I say it again, genius. And it also shows you that to some people, the 1860's remain very much alive today. How did you put it? "However you cannot keep dwelling on things that changed over half a century ago and keep applying them to present day debates." Well that is what a good many of our friends elsewhere in the country still insist on doing, and nostalgia or anti-nostalgia, very much drives debate today.I think it was great at the time when families were united—even though we had slavery—they cared for one another…Our families were strong, our country had a direction.Comment

Such stupidity, even as a careless, off-the-cuff remark, truly is staggering. Did he mean to claim that "family values" ceased to exist after 1865? No family values or "direction" during all the time between the Civil War and the late 1960s, when the country really did begin its long descent into mobocracy? As terrible a thing as it is to loose a Senate seat, he would have been a constant disgrace to the Repub party, had he won.Comment

Who knows what he meant? There is no context and, like so much you see bandied about here, could be just another lie. Remember who you are dealing with… Democrats. Democrats that were fathered or grandfathered by Ross Barnett, Orville Faubus, George Wallace, William Fulbright, Justice Jim Johnson, Robert Byrd, and Al Gore Sr. In the Presidential race in 2000, Vice President Al Gore Jr. stood up in front of the NAACP and said his father lost his Senate seat because he voted for the Civil Rights Act. That is an absolute lie… he voted no.Such stupidity, even as a careless, off-the-cuff remark, truly is staggering. Did he mean to claim that "family values" ceased to exist after 1865? As terrible a thing as it is to loose a Senate seat, he would have been a constant disgrace to the Repub party, had he won.
Then there is Bill Clinton whose mentor was J. William Fulbright, a man who sponsored and promoted The Southern Manifesto, a document that opposed Brown v. Board of Education and later he filibustered the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Then there were those people like Winthrop Rockefeller. He came to Arkansas and built a fantastic home on Petit Jean Mountain. He had everything any man would want to have. (Sound familiar?) But, he stepped forward and risked everything in order to run for Governor. His opponent and Democratic hero was Justice James Johnson and his campaign slogan was “No nl**ers in our schools.” I was a college kid and worked on that campaign. I even had a black kid from Ark. AM&N spend the weekend in my dorm room. And that was the first black person to ever spend a night on that campus since 1873.
I was put on probation and hauled before a disciplinary board. The vote was in my favor 4 - 3 and by the skin of my nose I was allowed to stay in school. So now the Stooges and other radical and racist Nazi’s accuse me of being the racist.
Back to Roy Moore. I warned everybody about him as did DJT. He is a fake, a fraud, and a extremist hater who claims the law doesn’t apply to him if he disagrees with it. Luther Strange was not much of a candidate but he would have easily won the seat.
Meanwhile the Stooges get their jollies by race baiting and lies. They don’t believe a word of what they say, it is all just teen aged stupid games.Last edited by RED; 12-31-2017, 11:05.Comment

I think you're on to something. He or "they" do sound like kids. Too smart to be an adolescent, too dumb and inexperienced to be an adult so that would put he/it/them in the teenage "know it all" stage.Comment
