Hitler's Mercedes goes up for auction ...

I don't figure on bidding - might be a little too pricey for me.

I reckon a person could win a lot of demo derbies with that bad boy!

One of his cars is here in Ottawa at the Canadian War Museum. See https://www.tripadvisor.ca/LocationP...a_Ontario.html. My recollection is that the windows are about 1 1/2 inches thick and that in spite of the thickness, one of the windows is cracked

You can see it for a lot less than it would cost to bid on the one up for auction.

There were several cars designated to Hitler. The ones with the dual rear axles will be the most sought after.

Makes me think of this clip from the movie "Rat Race". The gag starts about 2 minutes in to the video. Be patient, as it builds slowly, but the finale is worth it! (to me at least)

Most of Hitler's cars were beat up by U.S. soldiers who joy rode them to death. Reminds me of the first Bonnie and Clyde car I saw in Gatlinburg, TN. On the drive home stopped at another museum and lo and behold there was another one, all shot up too.

I went to those museums (there's 2 of them there). They also had a Batmobile from the 60's TV shows, the Oldsmobile truck from the Beverly Hillbillies and a muti-million dollar Ferrari GTO. The place's should be called "replica car museum".

Many years ago a Mall in Mobile displayed one of Hitler's original cars. It was MB similar to the one pictured and appeared to be un-restored. The paint was black or dark brown (don't remember), had brown leather interior that was worn and cracking due to age and an MP-40 laying on the back seat for display. I remember the MB emblems on the hubcaps and elsewhere were gold plated. The plaque displayed at the car stated that it had 2 transmissions linked end to end, the second acted as an overdrive for faster speeds. May be the same car that is to be auctioned?

I can't recall it and can't for the life of me figure out how I might have missed seeing that. It was there because I looked to see when the museum obtained it. Took in the museum and the mint across the street.

JB White. Its time to come back for another visit. A few years ago the War Museum that was next to the mint was replaced with a much larger, purpose built facility. If you are interested in aircraft, Ottawa also houses the Canada Aviation and Space Museum (https://ingeniumcanada.org/aviation/index.php) and a completely rebuilt science and tech museum (https://ingeniumcanada.org/scitech/index.php). Bring your whole family (we can use the tourist dollars) but don't come this week. We are living down to our reputation as the coldest capital city in the world.

IIRC the Hershey Museum has a couple. I recall seeing one on a tour back in 1957 or so.
