White Privilege Boosted By Teaching Math University Professor Says

Maybe we should teach break dancing instead?

An Illinois professor argues in a newly published book for math educators that the ability to solve geometry and algebra problems perpetuates white privilege.

    Another ding dong.

I'm a math boob and can see the flaws in this happy horse manure.

Apparently she forgets that the Arabic (or has it should be called Arabic=Indian) system of numbers is used universally. The primary Indian contribution being the concept of "zero" about 500 AD. Arabic system is probably the greatest innovation in mathematics and is properly called Arabic numbers. Anyone care to do math using the Roman system, or systems based on alphabets?? The Mayas also developed a symbol for zero in the first century A.D. but there number system based on multiples of 20 looks awkward to me.

If the Pythagorean Theorem and the concept of Pi hadn't bee developed by Greeks maybe they wouldn't have Greek names .

Hmmm...so how does she explain all the Spanish and Black guys who were always better at math than this lil ol' white boy? Can't be much of a carpenter without math.

Does the ability to shoot hoops boost Black privilege? Should we stop teaching math -- and go back to the stone age in technology?
