I was commenting on your earlier post, and the possibility that you paint cops as victims of a hostile society. I for one doubt that effective cops see themselves that way--a message I am repeating since you missed it the first time. Successful people usually don't, in any line of work.

I think this wave of violence towards police have made them a bit jumpy or maybe I watch too much TV. I did get stopped a month ago for speeding, I was very carful to keep both hands on the steering wheel, where they could be seen by the officer as she approached. I was very polite (so was she). She took all the usual back to the squad and when she came back said 'you have a very good driving record so I am giving to a verbal warning, watch your speed'. That was the end of that. I also am a acquaintance of a retired county deputy and have heard more then one story!
You can never go home again.

Then by your own admission you were, let's say, "apprehensive" about what should have been a trivial, no-sweat, incident. Sorry state of affairs, don't you think, when a decent American believes he must, for his own safety, take that attitude toward law enforcement.

There's good people and bad people, probably mostly good but the cops don't know and even a good person can be having a "bad" mood. I don't blame them for taking an overly cautious approach. Should we as citizens feel we should have to have that attitude toward cops? Unfortunately due to gross overpopulation, tourist, illegals, and the overall rot of society we can't be assumed to be the little old lady from Pasadena that the cops have just pulled over. Remember too that cops are usually outnumbered and sometimes make arrest in very remote areas. Letting his guard down could quickly become fatal. So, yeah, they may be a little paranoid and it may be annoying to us but I'm afraid it is what the world has come to and isn't going to get any better.
