Yep, we have been told by algor and togor that global warming is caused by humans creating pollution. Now the real scientists are telling us that cleaning up atmospheric pollutants will result in speeding up and increasing global warming.
Cleaning up pollution is speeding up global warming!

Red you have sh*t for brains. Soot blocks sunlight, sulfur dioxide reflects it. These actions block solar radiation from getting to the surface. CO2 absorbs re-radiated infra-red energy from the surface. Why shoot your mouth off on a subject about which you don't even understand the basics. Wait, I know... because you're God's gift to mankind, it's your duty.Last edited by togor; 01-23-2018, 06:40. -

You do understand that it wasn't me that made the statement that "Cleaning Up Air Pollution May Strengthen Global Warming." So you are actually saying that the Scientific American writers have "sh*t for brains."
You are the stupid one not the Scientific American. You can't refute the statement so you shoot the messenger. Typical for a brain dead liberal pretending to be pro gun. You are a fake, a fraud, and a anti American traitor.
Back to the ignore list you piece of trash.Comment

From the article:
From my first post, made without even reading the article, because this stuff has been around for some time now. (This isn't new.)Scientists have long known that some types of pollution can actually help cool the climate. Certain aerosols—sulfate, for instance—can reflect sunlight away from the Earth or enhance sun-reflecting cloud cover. As nations around the world have begun to crack down on air pollution, scientists have grown interested in figuring out how much extra warming might be expected as they disappear. This is critical information for strategizing ways to meet global climate goals, like the 2-degree target.
Old man, your brain is shot. I could explain this stuff until I'm near dead from exhaustion and the uptake on your end would be zero. So to make my life easier I'll be more than happy to be on your ignore list.sulfur dioxide reflects it.
For others reading this pathetic thread:
Nova put out an interesting program on this in late '05 or early '06! Here is the companion web page.
In this companion Web site to the NOVA program Dimming the Sun, find a history of global dimming, learn about clean air technologies, discover how aircraft contrails might affect regional temperatures, read a personal essay by filmmaker David Sington on why he feels many people remain skeptical about global warming, and more.
I tried to get another poster here interested in this topic (aerosols and their contrary action to CO2 greenhouse effect) in response to his citing of a blog that talked mentioned patterns of cooling in the earlier part of the 20th century. Some people it seems just skim the headlines and don't want to read the articles they post.Last edited by togor; 01-24-2018, 04:55.Comment

C'mon Tog. Face it. This thread started out as if scripted.

Red posts controversial topic.
(Enter Togor) Tog tweaks the tigers nose.
Red rips Togors face off.

I can't say whether or not you were targeted with that intended result. I originally saw it as purely serendipitous and that's what made me laugh.2016 Chicago Cubs. MLB Champions!

I thought it was funny.
When I first saw the article I thought it was funny. When I typed the post I was thinking about Al Gore when I realized his spoken name sounded all too familiar so I shortened it to "algor," and added "togor," to it. No where in the OP did I say I believed the theory to be true, I only suggested it was quite different than what algor and his shadow togor had been lecturing us about for years now.
In return I got "the sh-t for brains." reply. Not what I consider tit for tat.Comment

Do you believe in man made climate change Red?"The first gun that was fired at Fort Sumter sounded the death-knell of slavery. They who fired it were the greatest practical abolitionists this nation has produced." ~BG D. UllmanComment

Red you you regularly call me far worse. It doesn't bother me, but playing the victim on those occasions when I return fire doesn't become you. If we're inventing word plays on my name, then I guess you waved a red flag and got to-gored for it. Get it? togor? Gored? When I first saw the article I thought it was funny. I believe the climate is changing. I don't know whether it is mother nature having a hiccup, the unusual low number of sun spots, cows farting, or something else. As far as man polluting the earth, yes he is and that is harming the environment. I believe the government ought to strive to reduce that harm and here in the U.S. we have done a pretty good job of doing that.Do you believe in man made climate change Red?
I believe the climate will continue to change no matter what mankind does. It has changed continually for the last 4 (+ or -) billion years.
Do you believe man can stop it from changing?Comment

Hmmm that post makes sense and echos what I have said for a few years - it is bad to pollute the enviroment so lets try to minimize that as much as we can. What is causing climate change? To borrow from the Hillary playbook "at this point why does it matter!"
The person who wrote that article just wanted to get published and make a few bucks.Comment
