Lesson being...President has no direct impact on wages and doesnt deserve credit or complaint reagrding what the average American is getting paid. Corporate America assigns value to what it will pay, sometimes that means undocumented immigrants and overseas production. Time will tell what the impact the trade deficit has.

AFIK The only jobs out there that get a raise based on inflation (COLA) are Social Security recipients, Military people and gubmint, employees. The average SS raise during your best Bud's term (2009 - 2017) was 0% in three years and 1.1% overall. The military (thanks to the Repubs) was 1.8%.

As far as "the President has no direct impact on wages..." You tell that to the tens of thousands of Wal-Mart, Starbucks, and other employees that have received raises just since the new tax law went into effect. You tell that to the businesses that have been impacted over the past year by the removal of Federal rules and regs. If your welfare bennies went up more than that it is not because you deserved it.
