High School Cancels Musical Because White Student Given Lead Role

All of this crap started during Obama's reign. I don't think we will ever see the end of it in our lifetime.

Social justice activists at a New York high school successfully shut down a production of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” because a white person landed a lead role.

Could always do a remake of the TV show "Amos N' Andy" as an alternative to them.

HEY! Growing up, I thought "Amos and Andy" was funny as hell.

Best comedy show on TV by far! Continued as re-runs for years after show stopped production when, I think, Amos died. And do you know who loved it more than whites? Every black I knew! They hadn't yet been told by white liberals that it was "disrespectful"; which it absolutely was not!

By the way, considering that the high-school in Burlington, Vt., voted to display the BLM flag on the school flagpole during Black History Month, with the full approval of the faculty, this incident isn't so bad; although this school may be doing the very same thing.

Can't be said often enough: the teacher's unions, for which no left wing cause is too extreme, are the most subversive organizations in the country; as the twig is bent, the tree's inclined.

The radio version of Amos 'n' Andy was probably THE most popular radio show ever. Gosden and Correll were invited to NAACP conventions. While they were white, all the other actors and musicians were black.
At the rate they're going all they'll have is something like the eight approved "revolutionary" operas that Chiang Chiang shoved down people's throats during the Cultural Revolution in China. We seem to be going through our own Cultural Revolution.

Found a old movie called "Check and Double Check" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpZoSAIudCM ) that resulted in finding the TV Show. Great movie. Great TV series. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce.

some parents should stand up and file lawsuits against the school and its board for racism.

Amos 'n' Andy set the pattern for sitcoms. The Honeymooners is Amos 'n' Andy in whiteface.
It seems we conservatives have to be the ones that push for a colorblind society where people are judged on their individual merits and not on their pigmentation. But then the Liberals/Lefties will accuse US of "cultural appropriation."

This forum is not colorblind, and doesn't particularly try to be. My take is that there is in some quarters a constant search to find "socially acceptable" ways of expressing deeply held feelings. Being truly colorblind would include not getting freaked out by demographic shifts in color. But I for one agree with you on this point. Does it take effort sometimes? Sure, it does. Do I think it's worth it? I do.

Like the faculty & administration of this school?

Here's a gag I wish I had the dough to pull off: buy a full-page ad in Variety Magazine to announce a casting call for a new Broadway production of Porgy & Bess. Rent an office on Broadway, providing the address in the ad. Most importantly, specify in bold print that "All races are eligible for all parts." Then sit back and enjoy the riot!

Only problem--Variety wouldn't run the ad for fear of making their office the scene of another riot.
