Britain's Health Care System In Absolute Crisis

Thousands of surgeries have been canceled and there are long waiting times for treatment. Trump had some comments about this that riled the Brits.

President Trump has riled U.K. leaders by wading into a sensitive debate over their health care service -- though the socialized system is visibly plagued by a winter crisis that has slashed services and led to claims that patients are dying in corridors and ambulances.

I recall reading an article some time ago in a Brit on-line newspaper, that their Parliament spends about 1/4 of each legislative term 'tinkering with the NHS system in order to fix it'. You'd think after all these years, they'd have it "fixed" by now.

Of course we also have a similar system here. It's called the Veteran's Administration...........and we all know how well that system is working.

Trump speaks and the faithful fall insensibly into line. Trumpists hate the NHS now. Why, is anyone's guess. What did the NHS do to them? And what will Trumpists wake up to discover they hate tomorrow? The pattern repeats as surely as the sun rises and sets.

Togor wakes up in the middle of the night, "Dang Trump is still President!" Some peoples nightmares come true! Just think, 7 more years of sleepless nights.

I have a better authority than "alex".

All the Brits need to do is crash our borders and get all the free healthcare insurance they want courtesy of the tax payers. They will be placed ahead of the vets and those of us who pay for real insurance.

Remember, Obamacare was brought to you by the same one who had Cash for Clunkers. Barry will go down as one of the biggest chumps in history right in front of "Jimmy Who?"

NHC ... Canadian system ... either one is better than what passes for healthcare in this nation. Got insurance? So what. What good does it do you. Just as soon as you actually have a problem, then the little bean counters that run the insurance companies tell you what will and will not be covered ... depending on what they decide that day is going to be covered ... or not. So, just what is so great about US healthcare? If the VA is so bad, then maybe it'd be better to just give all vets access to regular public hospitals and let the VA go belly up. It doesn't seem to matter if you keep yourself in shape or just get sloppy and end up in poor shape and health and then expect the system to cover you and keep you alive, etc. From what I see ... and from what I've just been seeing in local hospitals, it doesn't matter what kind of insurance you've got ... the only treatment you're going to get is whatever is cheap provided by the lowest bidder. So ... just what is so great about US healthcare ... beyond bandaids? JMHO. bruce.

There are enough true horror stories of Canada's bureaucrat-run healthcare system. Michael Moore's "documentary" Sicko was meant to show how wonderful Canada's system was. Then the story came out of the 12 year old boy whose operation was finally approved-two weeks after he died.

Say what you want about Wal-Mart, our health care is very good and AFFORDABLE as well. My bills were paid, no questions asked as well as my medication. The cost for the insurance is quite affordable for the average family, much less then what I previously paid. I was given so many options to pick from, every week a nurse from Bentonville would call to see how I was and would I need anything. I have a medical team assigned to me from my Oncologist-physical therapy-dietician and anyone else as needed. My records were sent to the Mayo Clinic to make sure that my treatment is on track. Now that I am in remission I get a monthly phone call to keep track of me. It is too bad that the nation can't have what I have, during my treatment concern about paying a medical bill was not there for me. Monthly I get a summary of what treatment I received and the cost. My out of pocket is very little and affordable compared to what Wal-Mart paid for us.

Over here in Europe their view is that it is indeed possible for the "rest of the nation" to have what you have, because they've done it for their own people. There are better examples on the continent than the NHS. And when discussing health outcomes of different systems, cherry-picking individual anecdotes of socialized death bureaucracies doesn't really advance the conversation. Private insurance company death-dawdling has killed many a patient, if that is the test.

Re: Walmart. Very glad your situation has worked out so well. Currently am visiting a church member who got hit by a tree on Thursday. Massive damage. Many many broken bones. Thankfully no head injury. But you would not believe the mess his family is having to deal with b/c the insurance company just doesn't want to get off it's wallet.

Sooner or later, the shenanigans that insurance companies pull, the excuse making, the completely unwarranted delays, the rejection of legitimate claims, etc., etc., etc., it's all going to get to the point that people will go for a NHC program of some kind. Shoot fire! The VA plan would be better for most people than the witches brew that insurance companies put out. Whatever they say is about like sausage ... the skin of the truth stuffed with lies. And there is just about nothing anyone can do about it. If you have money, you don't need insurance. If you don't have money ... and you do have insurance ... you get whatever they scrape off the sole of their shoe. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce.
