    A REALLY hot Topic!

Who do you consider THE WORST American General of WWII? I can think of two, Eisenhower and Clark as only fit to be Division Commanders. Marshall should have taken Eisenhower's place as Marshall was a man of great ability.

Bradley, who I thing is responsible for the Bulge. Why? cause he had that forest in front of him and thought the Germans would never advance thru it in any strength, even tho they had done it before! So he left it lightly defended with green troops. And he hated Patton, reason enough to dislike him!
You can never go home again.

          Agree

Our generals were all great 5 star geniuses compared to Charles de Gaulle.

De Gaulle spent the entire war under a bed somewhere
in London - until it was over. He then crept out and headed
the French Troops in the victory parade.

              DT you hijacked his thread!

Eisenhower did his job, which was to deal with the inevitable diplomatic side of coalition warfare. Clark embodies the Peter Principle. Some Marines would point to Ralph Smith, over in the Pacific.

I've heard it said that France has had only two great military geniuses. A schizophrenic teenaged girl, and a Corsican dwarf.

Any of the American Generals who got fired early on in the war. Ikes general officers from his Army Commanders to his Division Commanders were good officers. Can't say anything about the Pacific as Europe got most of the PR attention.
