As long as they're hung out of the reach of the live ones that might feed on them, I'm good. I lately shot a mangy young one feeding on a dead, mangy one and am glad I did. If the ground weren't frozen I'd have buried them both. I just watch for others.

Coyote season is year round here if you have a small game license and hunt your own or public property.

Other states close the season when pups are presumed to be around.

Hanging coyotes, crows, anything else, on a fence next to a public road is a guaranteed way to arouse anti-hunting sentiment; too much of that already, in my opinion.

Hanging coyotes, crows, anything else ... etc. Yep! Guaranteed to hack someone off. Not good PR for any shooting sport, especially not for hunting. The overwhelming vast majority of people in this country do not live in rural areas. They do not have any interest in varmint hunting, etc. Just makes good sense not to put up stuff that will only hurt our own interests. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce.

coyotes are fair game year round in most places outside of bigger cities. crows generally have a season. decent people dont leave 'em hanging from fences.

Ranchers in Oklahoma would hang coyote carcasses on corner fence posts of their livestock fields. They said it would keep the live coyotes out of the fields during calving season. Don't know if that worked, we still saw coyotes moving through the fields at sundown.

More likely provide the live ones with additional food, if they were hungry enough.

The rural practice is possibly a holdover from the days when ranchers were paid bounties for each carcass, he said.

Really? It's a scoreboard! Telling others who shot the most 'yotes that week. It's worth a free beer and bragging rights. Sometimes it's a pool for a small cash prize. The 'yotes I popped would be given to my friends son so he could haul the carcasses into town for the tally. No, they didn't string them up in their county but it was a game nonetheless. It also let's folks know how bad the infestation has gotten and it's considered as good news whenever the tally drops.

If there's a neighborhood of South Americans in that town (where is there not?), he should have sought out a market where they could be sold for food. Recently watched a show on the Travel Channel which featured a coyote killed in upstate NY brought down to be cooked up in a NYC eatery run by a Honduran or Guatemalan. According to host, it was considered a regular "game animal" where they came from, and was certainly devoured with gusto by everyone in the place, including the white, Jewish host.

No wonder that burger tasted odd.

Do Coyotes divide the hoof and chew the cud?

Jewish, not Kosher-Krazy. And compared to the unspeakable things he regularly consumes on this show, coyote was ho-hum. He also does quite a bit of hunting on the show, which is one reason I watch it.

If we would hang the bodies of convicted murderers, rapist, and drug dealers that came here illegally, in trees, along the border... We would not need a stinking wall...

That's brilliant. If we did that then the Canucks (and maybe Mexicans too) would erect their own walls to keep people like you out. Stone cold proof that Trumpists are batsh*t crazy, don't represent America, are nothing remotely close to Christian, and will eventually die off, most likely caked in their own feces.

Lordy. Togor loses it. Stop reading Red, your starting to emulate him. Or it's all an act, I don't know which.

Hanging coyotes from a tree is loony, nut stuff. It doesn't teach the other coyotes a lesson, it's just voodoo, kooky stuff and I've seen the same in the "holler" venturing out into the hinterlands of AZ. You want to keep an eye on those people. Hopefully you don't have any in your neighborhood.
