    Speaking of Young People

3/4ths being unfit to serve seems like a lot, based on the kids I saw go through high school with my own. Maybe it's different elsewhere in the country?

Obesity ?-"MORE PT, DRILL SERGEANT!" Several veterans who went through Basic at Fort Jackson in the 1980s said there was a Fat Boy's company there-restricted diet and extra PT.

At FLW, MO in 1985 the 'fat bodies' were made road guards and literally ran their asses off. By the time graduation rolled around, they were lean mean fighting machines. v/r Dan

Been this way for a very long time. 25% fit to serve and of these only 1% do. My son went through USCG boot camp in January 2016. Of his company 25% didn't graduate or were cycled back for additional training. Some quit because of the mental pressure and some couldn't make the PT times.

When I went through BCT at Fort Dix, Summer of 1967, a number were recycled but there was no such thing as 'washing out". Plenty of people got by with low or pencil-whipped PT scores, etc. That old Army issued cold could be blamed for a lot of things. A real flub up or dumbdumb was kept around for a few months as a Permanent KP, janitor, etc. Nowadays they're a lot more selective.

By the time they weed out the fatties, the 4Fs, the queers
and transgenders, we'll be down to just one battalion. If that.

Gays can serve openly. Nothing to weed out.

Mattis has just said that those who are non-deployable will have to shape up or ship out. All those who have gotten out of deployments due to testing HIV positive-that will weed out a lot of homosexuals.

HIV positive? Everyone knows to wear a raincoat in the Army.

My father told me of a guy he served with in Korea. Caught every STD imaginable and kept going back to the same whore each time. When they were moved back to Japan then finally shipped home, his buddy was still back in Korea as he wasn't allowed to leave for at least a year.
He doesn't know how he explained that to his wife. Perhaps instead of a raincoat he was wearing his poncho?
