Remember, half of all kids are now raised in single-parent households. Without a father, how can they learn manly things? -
They eliminated the hand grenade throw for the PT Test shortly after I completed BCT in 1967.
1. Too many people boloing it-"Just like throwing a baseball". And for those of us who didn't play ?
2. You're only good at what you practice. Something the Army doesn't believe in.
3. They substituted the Fireman's Carry. Which is a lot more practical when you think of it.
Endless wrangling over the PT Test in my day. Techincally you had to pass ALL five events to pass, minimun score 300. Theoretically someone could score 459-max four out of five events, fail one , fail the test.Last edited by blackhawknj; 02-21-2018, 01:14.Comment

Tell me about it. When I started coaching baseball it came as a real shock to me that the game had gone the way of soccer--only played in parent-organized settings. I figured out how to make enough of the little darlings throw adequately enough to field a team, so I bet I could help the Army were they to ask. FWIW my son at a lanky 6'1" has a cannon for an arm. Shoulder joint from his mom's side, instruction from his dad, ability to put all together from God.Comment
