IIRC the "Take Your Daughters to Work Day" movement fizzled out because many schools said if there was no equivalent for boys it wasn't a valid absence.
This all sounds very 60ish, though for Liberals/Leftists the 60s are their Golden Age, the Good Old Days they long to go back to.
