Jesus "may have been born in the Middle East" ...

Well, who'd have guessed that. And here I was thinking
    he was born in Connecticut.
I'm not too sure about that face. I don't think I'd trust
him with my young daughter - if I had one.

They assume that 2,000 years ago Middle Easterners looked the way they do today, that centuries of immigration and migration have had no effect.

There is no evidence for how Jesus looked -- if you discount the Shroud of Turin. Matthew says he was descended from David, and David is described in the Bible as "ruddy." Some students of the Bible think he was blond or red-headed and blue-eyed. Certainly there are plenty of fair-skinned Jews today.

I'm not sure he was. Did they call it the middle-east then?

I dream of a better world. One where chickens may cross the road without their motives being questioned.

im fairly certain they believed it was the center of a very small, very flat world.

I wonder who his barber was.

Yes, plenty of them, but that's after centuries of residing in Europe. Compare the skin color of West Africans (the origin of most American slaves) with the color of most (so-called) African-Americans. Think there may be some exchange of genetic material going on? Incidentally, of all the reasons to condemn slavery in this country, THAT is at the top of my list.

DNA from the Egyptian mummies looks a lot like that of modern day Egyptians. Odds are Jesus looked like a typical resident of Southwest Asia.

But from that mock-up, I don't think Jesus was half Neanderthal. For that matter I don't think he was a blue-eyed Italian either. I do know he's going to be hard to recognize during the Second Coming.

Curious none of his contemporaries noticed his eyes looked rather strange.

Whatever it's called, it's still in the same place.
Countries are not apt to move and the people who live there
look as though they live in a hot climate. Always have as the
constant hot sun tends to make you look swarthy.

No. If you read the ancient Aramaic it translates to "Where God sat when He created the world." In modern English, S***hole countries.

S***hole it certainly was before the foundation of Israel. S***hole it would return if the Palestinians took control.

I spent 18 months there in the Army.
All I remember is that it was ferking hot and full of flies.

Actually, they knew the Earth was round, and they knew how big it was. Eratosthenes, the Librarian of Alexandria, measured the circumference of the Earth before 200 BC. He got it right to within 1%.
