This contrary to the things I have heard as to his stand . He has said we need to do things that will make a difference and not knee jerk solutions . Not in those exact words , but that is the meaning of his statement about legislation .
So , I guess we set tight , keep sending the messages to him and our reps and see what falls out of the sack .

I agree with that.
What I don't understand is:
Age 18 OK to buy an AR15, but 21 to buy a handgun.

The 2nd amendment has no exclusions about age, type of gun or mental illness.

Parents and legal guardians should take the rap of responsibility if their underage child commits a crime or takes a gun (even unloaded) to school. Lengthy jail terms and heavy fines would make most parents suddenly responsible.

Schools should have the right to prohibit certain students from attendance. It is a law that they do go to school though till age 16 so this would put responsibility upon the parents also.

Illegals should not be in our schools at all.

Clark, I got that impression too. It would have been a much safer risk to take before the mass hysteria took hold. At least he separated the bills to stand alone. What we may lose on one end if a bad risk backfires, then we still have something good for later...hopefully.

Cook County has mandatory background checks and FFL transfers only at gun shows. It's PIA as it causes more difficulty in making a deal. NICS cost and FFL transfer fees need to be figured into the equation. No F2F FOID transfers unless selling to a dealer or LEO. Then there is the $25 Cook County firearms purchase tax which they weasel in whenever they possibly can. THAT is the key piece. The revenue generator disguised as a safety measure. They even regulate the transfer of bona fide antiques.
I'd hate to see that crap enacted at a Federal level.
