    Bump Stocks in News Again

So Sessions has apparently decided that a MG isn't what the Obama people thought it was.

I still stay that on the far end of the 90-day comment period, they'll still be out there. My chips are stacked on this administration not inventing rules out of whole cloth to p*ss of members the gun community. I get it that some firearms owners, myself included, won't miss the things. But the loudest usually win, and the loudest are not going to take bump stock surrender/deactivation as an act of administrative fiat lightly. I remember when Team Obama wanted to reclassify M855. So pushback works, and I'm expecting it might work this time too.

I'm genuinely curious to see how this one plays out.

By the time any regulation is passed, everybody who ever wanted one (including all those, like me, who'd never heard of them before Vegas) will already have hidden away several of them--even though the price is now going through the roof. But that's irrelevant to those who can afford the ammo to shoot full auto.

atf has always stated a MG is a firearm the fires more than once per pull of trigger. sorry bumpfire stocks do not bypass that, the trigger must still physically pulled once each time the gun fires. again more laws will prevent nothing. the device isnt complicated to make. even some of the dimwits around this forum could manage to make them. so a law will not prevent a criminal from making or using their own.

Well, that's a definition that can be changed without legislation.

What bump stocks are good for, according to Paddock:

Enfilading area fire on a confined target, say an amphitheater of concertgoers. Hang a bipod under this baby and you're ready to roll.

I agree that the purely administrative route like this is a bad idea. But it will make them harder to get, and kill off R&D in the area. People will think twice about going out and practicing with them. A political cost with the base? I would think so but that is just a guess.

Some legal things which eventually proved to be bad ideas:

              Metal lawn darts on playgrounds.
              Plastic bags in baby carriages.
              Drinking & driving
              Bump stocks and mental patients.....

              Feel free to add.

Beer and Marlboros. At least when I was a kid, at a back yard sleepover.
