First Seizure Under New Florida Law

Florida deputies confiscated an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle from an Army veteran on Thursday, and the seizure was the first of its kind under the state’s new gun control law enacted following the Parkland school shooting.

Army veteran perhaps, but careless with firearms. I suppose if acquitted he gets them back.

Careless? CARELESS?? Outright stupid (and certainly shooting into an occupied vehicle would be a highly illegal act under any circumstance) is more like it!!

I'm pretty much against confiscation, but, he is obviously not the choir boy that he will be made out to be in some circles. Based on ONLY what is divulged in that link, I can see cause.

I hope he never owns another weapon. Not a bow and arrow.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.

Plenty of vets, honorably discharged, have previously proven they weren't choir boys.

Since he has been accused of a serious crime.....Friendly Hint: If you're going to engage in mayhem, find a secret place to store your firearms.

In media-speak, 3 is a collection--5 or more makes an "arsenal."

The entire news story is full of misstatements and misinformation. The guy has been charged with attempted murder and has a arrest record that goes back years. So where does this "new" law come into play? Does it make it illegal to assault a person with a Glock? Are you saying that we had to have a new law that allows the police to take guns away from somebody that is charged with a major felony? Gosh, so you mean Joe Schmidt is out on bail for attempted murder but it is OK for him to go down and buy a new AR or a Glock?

The article also alludes to a restraining order... Hello! In MO that in itself is grounds for taking his weapons, no new law needed. Once upon a time, I loaned a guy that worked for me $600 on a decked out AR. A few days later he and his girlfriend had a fight and she got a restraining order and swore out a complaint for assault. She told the cops that he had an AR and I was "keeping," it for him and they came and got it. There was no new law needed. (thankfully, when I produced the contract he signed, I got the gun back.)

Taking a Glock and putting 6 rounds through somebody's rear window is not carelessness in any stretch.

ha ive seen your pics of your mausers, and the news folks would call just your mausers an arsenal. wouldnt have to get to anything else you may own. have no fear, you would be labeled a lunatic hoarding gun owner with an arsenal of deadly weapons. honestly, probably most of us here would be labeled by the media in unflattering terms.
