Now at 5, with the U.S. against Russia in Syria how long to escalate up. Reminds me of the book Alas Babylon and how it started.

SAC was always in Defcon 4, posture 1. It only takes a few minutes to switch targets on a Minuteman III ICBM. The good news to me is that we don't have masses of people and equipment facing off against each other in Europe like we did during the Cold War.

I'm not convinced Assad launched the Chem Attack and if he did its not our fight in my opinion.

Re: Chemical attack. The russians didn't do it. Meanwhile assad has a proven record of using chemical weapons repeatedly and ruthlessly. In a proxy war, striking at the enemy by attacking his ally is how the fighting is done. So, sooner or later, Trump will send the russians a message via cruise missiles, maybe bombs. It will serve two purposes ... tweak them about supporting assad, etc. and just as importantly tweak them about messing with elections process in the USA. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce.
