Now, it is a real invasion. These groups have sponsors and backers intending to invade the U.S. and challenge our government to do anything about it.

Similar to the European invasion of middle eastern refugees. The idea is, there will be so many they can't be stopped. Of course they will all be allowed in and given a court date to plead their case for refugee status. One day the entire region may decide that at noon they are going to stroll into the U.S.

Why not put up tents at the border and let them camp until their court date comes up? And make them pay rent and buy their own meals.

According to this guy, using CPB numbers, things are trending in a good direction. But acknowledging that might remove the freak-out factor and what fun is that.

The thing with slate pitches is it all depends on (just like anything) who's doing the writing. Slate itself leans a bit more left than some other sources. I would expect to see a discrepancy in the numbers. Only 200? I doubt that would ever have made any news at all.
