    Raise interest rates to 40%???

That is what you do when the socialist government has run out of other peoples money. This is the same kind of economy that the Stooges have wet dreams about bringing to the USA. Socialism/Communism/Progressive governments have never succeeded in doing anything but ruin and misery. That's what they want for America and would gladly march patriotic Americans into ovens exactly like their God Adolf did.

The central bank raises interest rates by nearly 13 percentage points in eight days as the peso plummets.

40% and climbing! Out of money and runaway inflation does that. Even Jimmy Carter's watch didn't see our prime go much above 20-21%.
At least they tried raising the rate instead of simply printing more Pesos. That may happen yet as they try to get a handle on it.

Pesos. Big surprise. Maybe the Argentinians can all move to the US because they are "uncomfortable" where they are now.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.

My wife has relatives in Germany. They claim they are paying somewhere around 55% in taxes due to all the socialism handouts to the illegals and low lifes. They have free health insurance though providing you pay enough for it in taxes. (obamacare).
In short: Look how screwed up Germany and much of Europe is.

                Sam's two favorite online topics:

                1. Himself
                2. National Socialists

We could talk about Argentina having currency problems but why? Nothing new there. Backwards ankles being turned into knees so a cancer kid can walk is better.

Note that the article states that the President of Argentina has been taking steps to move the Argentine economy to a market based one and that he is highly regarded among international investors. He is more of a capitalist than a socialist but inherited an economy that was totally messed up by two socialist predecessors.

Question is what does this nation have to offer to raise capital? Food stuffs perhaps, not much that I am aware of.

Yep, sounds like the U.S. where there are too many inhabitants not paying taxes. The ones who pay get nothing in return. The ones who pay nothing get everything.

They've a way to go yet, for true socialism like Venezuela has achieved,
boasts an inflation rate of 18,000% and climbing toward 30,000..

Two predecessors ???. Don't Cry For Me, Argentina???? "The Peronist movement???

By 1913 Argentina was the world's 10th wealthiest nation per capita and outgrew Canada and Australia in population, total income and per capita income.
Today (despite Socialist inroads) Canada's per capita income is roughly 5X that of Argentina... Thanks to decades of Socialism.
