Here you go JB. From '16. It's a civil rights protest. He makes no bones about it and is aware there might be blowback.

Then why doesn't he protest the Democrat racists that have used the minorities and blacks as their slaves and lackeys for 200 years. When I look out there and see human trash disrespecting the country, the flag, the anthem, and those who fought and died for it, I don't see anything but anti American, traitors, and slime. If he wants to help people then go volunteer and work for Houses for Humanity, or some other charitable organization and leave the country, the flag, the anthem, and veterans, alone. He is just one stupid hate and burner that has done zero to further his supposed causes. There is not one single person in this world better off for the lies and BS you both love."I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color," Kaepernick told NFL Media in an exclusive interview after the game. "To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder."Comment

Others have voiced in ahead of me, but my perspective is the same as theirs and everyone else I know. It's all in that article you just posted. He slammed the nations most formidable icons. The ones that mean the most to everyone. The ones which generations of people have fought and died for. The memories of those who did and their legacies we defend. Our National Pride as a whole. As a reminder, that includes many kinds of people, black included. He slammed a major part of what binds us all together as Americans. Here you go JB. From '16. It's a civil rights protest. For what? He admits openly (although with a sense of pompous pseudo-intellect) he did it as a BLM publicity stunt. A stunt gone viral and morphed into something cheap and whorish. Yet even after it morphed, as an American he did absolutely NOTHING to put the brakes on it.
Let him wallow in the slime of his infamy. He earned it and I won't let polically correct excuses deny him of the crap he shat for himself.2016 Chicago Cubs. MLB Champions!

Well JB there's no doubt he caught blowback for it and even among his black peers in the NFL it was an edgy move. But a couple of things to remember, IMO: Part of having a free society is that we allow a space in our society for the free and non-violent expression of unpopular ideas, along the lines of the old "I may not agree with you but defend your right to say it" line. So he's challenging us all a bit in how dedicated we are to that idea, yes? Second, he is expressing a gripe that a lot of people feel in the minority community. Were people wrong in the 1950's and 60's wrong for boycotting busses, sitting in at lunch counters and taking the fire hoses? Everyone has to answer that one for themselves. But let's not kid ourselves that they're the only ones trying to jigger the country to improve their lot. The Bible thumpers forever want to push their morality on everyone else. CH would immediately jump in and say the gays want to do the same (so I beat you to it CH). The coal diggers want us to keep burning a fuel that industry doesn't want anymore instead of moving to parts of the country where there are jobs looking for workers. That's America today, a bubbling pot of special interests at war with each other.Last edited by togor; 06-07-2018, 05:10.Comment

Togor, we all know our history and the lessons learned from it. For a legitimate gripe people can protest. When they start wiping crap in our faces is where we draw the line. Especially when they're misinformed by self-serving activists and anarchists. All looking to justify the mayhem in places like Baltimore and Ferguson etc.
Why did you buy into their BS?2016 Chicago Cubs. MLB Champions!

JB did that veteran on a knee in the photo look like he was all about justifying mayhem? Not to me he didn't. Are you going to argue that civil rights got "fixed" in the 1960's and there's no unfinished business on that front? Should I call you a klansman because some KKK guys are really into the politics of the moment and have some degree of overlap with your views? If you don't like it done to you then don't do it to other people.Togor, we all know our history and the lessons learned from it. For a legitimate gripe people can protest. JB my role model for race relations growing up was the blue collar Milwaukee union guys with Polish and German last names mostly. Those were the dads of my friends and the guys at the bar when I tagged along with my dad and got a whole can of Graf's Root Beer or Cola. (Lesson learned as a kid: bars are awesome!) But there comes a point where you have to decide what you're going to think as your own man, and I had to either have the attitudes of those guys when it came to minorities, or form my own ideas. I formed my own and never looked back and have no regrets. America is an idea, not a skin color, and you'll never get me to see it different.
Some of these videos, with cops crunching down on some guy caught J-walking home from work or whatever. I know what I'm looking at in that cop's attitude because it was right out in the open where I grew up. If you ask me yes there is unfinished business on civil rights.Last edited by togor; 06-07-2018, 05:35.Comment

Take a deeper look at that vet. Right to the crux of the matter, he's taking a knee all the while cradling a properly folded flag. Mixed signals. Wouldn't you say? He's in uniform. No need to even remove his cap so long as he salutes during the Anthem. Where are the rest of his Post members? What was their reaction? Was he serious or is it just a parody? By the photo alone none of us know what is happening there.
Why would you call me a klansman? I think you're sharing a misguided belief like many others are. That's my heartfelt opinion. Have I called you a name in slander?2016 Chicago Cubs. MLB Champions!

JB I'm not lumping you with those guys and you're not one of them. So apologies if the limits of this medium give unintentional offense. The point I was making is that people can have beliefs without being tarred by the fact that there is some % overlap with extremists. You're not going to see me at any rallies but neither will I condemn the guy, Kaepernick, for protesting.Take a deeper look at that vet. Togor, you and I will never agree on this issue. Let's kill it?
Brewers had better play tonight. The Cubs are coming!! Phillies are giving them a hard time as of right now but a controversial call at the plate just put the Cubs up 4-1. Aint over yet. Cross your fingers. LOL
Last nights walk off grand slam in the 9thput the Cubbies only 1 game behind the brew crew. Guess who's fingers are crossed.
