That LMS engine brings back memories. Back when I
was around ten or so, there were seven main line
Stations (terminals actually) in London, and for a
penny you could get a Platform Ticket allowing kids
like me to venture to the far end of the platform.
This is where all the engines were, being shunted around
to get ready to take out the many trains. Hoards of
boys with their notebooks and train spotters guide were
noting down the engine numbers amid the smoke
and steam. The Drivers and Firemen were friendly
and would sometimes allow a boy or two into the cab.
The Engines weren't as clean as this one needless to say.
