    Good example

Germany has a population of just over 80 million. The lower house has just over 700 delegates. One quarter our population with almost twice as many representatives in the body which promulgates most of the legislation. Democracy at work or too many cooks?

I agree 100% that the migrant pressure onto the temperate latitudes is a huge challenge. Climate change makes it worse. So which makes more sense? Dealing with the problem somewhat closer to the source, however hard that might be, or trying to hunker down at the border while hoping the storm passes? I wish we had real political leadership to deal with this problem but so far no joy. Trump's "solutions" are panaceas that don't address the deeper issues.

The real problem is for my entire adult life we have given the Third World way more food and medical supplies than they need for maintaining a sustainable population level. The Middle East especially. If the World Food Program were to shut down, 100%, most of those nations wouldn't be able to feed themselves. To paraphrase John Prine, "Your self serving good deeds won't get you into heaven any more." Even people on the ground admit it is the major source of corruption in those nations; 11-12% of the food is off the books and goes directly into the pocket of El Presidente for Life Plus Twenty Years. So now the overwhelming excess population flees to the western nations who are run by people too over schooled and under educated to acknowledge what is going on in front of them.

        "Climate change makes it worse."

And let's not forget how George W. Bush's refusal to sign the Kyoto Protocol caused the tsunami in Indonesia!

Changes in seasonal rainfall patterns increase pressure on some of these regions, creating instabilities that do what? Put people on the move. Like for example migrants from Africa trying to get to Europe. If some Old Boy from Arkansas decides that's over his head, and has to make a dumb joke about it, then that's his choice.

Why does the United States HAVE to be the worlds everything? Continuing to give away the store and soon no store. The American psych is to help whenever possible which is good if one can afford to. The United States is now a debtor nation, giving away what we cannot afford does that make sense? I get calls everyday from some "charity" to donate so some cause, if I did my family would soon have nothing. Same thing on our southern border with the pathetic sight that MSM shows hourly. The southern nations have always had poverty and crime, why do we have to work on their problem? As a case manager I learned early to give advice and guidance, to intercede only when absolutely necessary. Our country should follow the same that I was taught, if I did for them why should they do for themselves? I want my country to remain strong for my children and grand children, not for other's who expect my country to take care of them. This will not be to the liking of Togor, so be it but I am a realist in my outlook on life. People who invade my country I expect American Forces to stop them at all costs. Anyone who wants to help any invaders are traitors to America IMHO.

The thing is Sam that other parts of the country could look at your chronically poor region and express many of the same sentiments that you do about other parts of the world. Democrats sent buckets of money to the mountain folk and it brought no lasting change, no real improvements, right?. The latest plan is to try to jack up demand of coal. If that doesn't work, then what? Force business to send capital there? My point us that you have more to lose than many if the sentiment of "I've got mine" advances wholly unchecked.

Our problem in Appalachia was and is internal colorism nothing more. It is not the money sent to my region, it is the money via natural resources that was taken away not benefiting the community and people. Unfortunately for my region [parts that is] have always had poverty for a host of reasons too numerous to mention. Ohio University is the oldest form of higher education in the state of Ohio and rated high in the nation. This has not helped to decline poverty in Southern Ohio one bit. Having worked with people in poverty a large percentage want no help just benefits. Right now in the county jobs go begging because welfare pays so good and that is no joke! Wal-Mart starts people out @$12.00 per hour with benefits and very few takers. Industry could have come in, the tree huggers have put up many obstacles. New business that come in have to plant so many trees, with concrete abound that is hard to do.

If not one single human had ever populated planet Earth, the climate would still be changing and in this era that change would be on the warmer side.

Well, there you go,the occasional pearl from Red. Togor, I think you should take a break. You've done your duty. But your starting to babel. Vern is sarcastic about global warming, but it is the root of this. Well this and the internet. 2 decades ago, people in the the third world just endured. Now, everyone is movin' on up to the East Side. Why try to plant these seeds Unico(or whatever it's called nowdays) sent us. Let's just move. There's no cable here.
