I agree that more expedient return needs to be a thing. As someone who actually believes in climate change, and the migratory pressure into the temperate regions that we can expect across the globe, I'm all for our clarifying and beefing up our immigration policies. What works for a few usually fails when there are too many, and we and Europe are at that point now. Policy change is needed because it will be like a chemical reaction if you get too many rednecks and "wetbacks" (your word) in the same town. It's good politics to change the rules, but stupid to throw good money after bad to basically turn the Mexico border into a permanent Iraq War (in terms of $ pissed down a hole) over the fear that one illegal is one too many.

Well if one starts saying things that make actual sense, they might be surprised. Until someone tries, we won't know.

That all makes perfect sense. If climate change has reached the point where the world "has ended" as we know it, then it's time to decide, do we put up blockades and preserve what "we" have or surrender everything and succumb to chaos. Do we retreat to Alberta and make the northern border our new southern border and hope all the refugees dislike snow and cold. Or revamp old procedures that were put in place before immigration because a Tsunami of poor and the near poor who want a little more. It's time to abandon playing this game of allowing people to flood the country and maintaining a polite attitude in the face of what is an invasion. They never leave no matter if they show up for the hearing or not(which the vast majority ignore). There are huge operations that are making many millions paid for with our taxes to maintain the facilities to house children and parents. This is really nuts.

Not MY word, EVERYBODY'S word (or just "wets") in all the border states from time immemorial--until PC took over every facet of life in this country.

I stuck my feet in the Rio Grande last year on vacation in Deep Southern NM. No other swimmers that I could see.
