Re: the upcoming mid-terms, may I suggest...

the ladies and brethern of this forum.

Contact your local Board of elections, and determine if you can be an register of voters for your county,

if so get the applications and take them to a gunshop some Saturday and ask if you can register those coming into the shop as new voters, p to the primary and general election.

I did this in 1996 and 1998 at one shop and two gun shows, people still remember me and indicated that they still vote.

Especially, the eighteen year old first time voters.

We can show the "Parkland students" how to be effective.

You can pick up a potful of registration forms from your county clerk in most states. Keep the filled out forms and take them back to the county clerk -- if you send them to some other official by mail they might be "lost."

It also helps if you copy the names and addresses and send them a post card a week before the election, reminding them to get out and vote.

Back when I was a deputy registrar we were not allowed to solicit potential voters. They had to come to us.
It was only a one day class for certification.

Now, political campaign workers could solicit and bring them to us but they had to be willing to register. We could not comment politically on anything at all during the process.

We will usually set up a voter registration stand during the 4th of July parade. As private citizens or a civic organization you are allowed to solicit voter registrations.
