My local DMV looks like a nightmare ...

I need to renew my license so I stopped by my DMV to
get an idea of what I'm in for. The place was chock full
of Mexicans with a line outside the door waiting their
    turn to get in.
Ain't looking forward to this. I could probably read War
and Peace waiting for my turn.
Would make an appointment but that entails a wait beyond
    my birthday.
    Build that damn wall.

    Learn Spanish while you wait.

In all liklihood a large percentage of those Mexicans were born right here in the Good Ol USA ....... unlike you and I ...

If they were paleskins, would the lines be more palatable? Shorter? Ha, don't bet on it. They'd close offices to save money and you'd have to drive further to renew. You're reitred, you're off the clock. All those people save you money by keeping that DMV office open and shortening your drive.

When you go to DMV here in NJ, you leave the United States and go to Oceania,3 pieces of ID to verify residency-but not citizenship. Here at least you can still renew your registration by mail.

Likewise, in NY. If that becomes impossible, to hell with it--haven't been asked to show my license in about 20 yrs.

Doubtful and doubtful that most of them are Mexicans. We are being invaded from Central America.

Not everyone is waiting in the initial long line for a DL. Some are there for title transfers and others are there for plate renewals. The busiest times are towards the end of the month or just beyond the 1st. That's when everyone rushes for the last minute deadline, or heads in during the short grace period once they realize they put off renewal for too long.

I try to hit one of the suburban satellite offices in the middle of the month. From the time I shut off my car in the parking lot to the time I fire it up to leave, barely 20 minutes has elapsed.
