If I don't take a dump tomorrow, I'm calling the doctor.

Drink plenty of liquids, caffeine is a bad choice. I drink lots of lemonade for the water and vitamin C, use a Berkerfield to filter water to remove the chlorine taste. Having had colon rectal cancer with tissue removal going can be a pain in the butt, wet wipes are a necessity for me now. Sorry guys, trying to be delicate on this distasteful subject.

Got a colonastimy coming up next week. I don't have a problem with the procedure, I'm sure they know what they're doing;but I don't like being unconscious. I've never been in a hospital and I've never had a broken bone(I couldn't fix). This isn't surgery, but it's close, and I don't like it. Maybe that's why I can't poop.If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.Comment

In the past two years I have been scoped, poked, radiated, port put into my chest, lost all inhabitation of being naked in front of who knows what just to beat the cancer. Every 90 days have to have a scope done to check for cancer, no fun but needed. As bad as this is, it beats the alternative by a country mile.

If you take laxatives beware, some of them are like rat poison. Yeah, they will clean you out but your digestive system will go into convulsions and reject everything you eat for a couple of days, then there's the pain and discomfort. May be better than what you're going through now though.Comment

Well once you get into the prep liquid for your procedure your poopless days will end. Lemon crystal light can help mask the flavor.Got a colonastimy coming up next week. This may sound funny but I have found that if I eat popcorn, the next morning I have to use the toilet several times. Apparently the corn is "roughage" and stimulates the bowel. If it doesn't work for you, at least you will have enjoyed the confection. You might also want to use a stool softener, something that is available off the shelf at any pharmacyComment

As a veteran of a number of colonoscopies, they're not really a big deal - mostly just an inconvenience. The worst part is the "purging" that's required the night before. Not to be indiscreet, but before and during that "cleaning out" process the judicious use of Vaseline helps a lot."They've took the fun out of running the race. You never see a campfire anywhere. There's never any time for visiting." - Joe Redington Sr., 1997Comment

Mine is easy because the Dr. is only looking @ 4" of tube and that is it. A simple enema two hours before is all that is required having had some tissue already removed two years ago.As a veteran of a number of colonoscopies, they're not really a big deal - mostly just an inconvenience. I had my last colonoscopy a couple of months ago and it was no big deal. The procedure has been greatly improved from what is was some years ago when you were sticking fleet enemas up your rear end. Also if they find some troublesome growth they can remove it right away.Comment
